Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS) was founded in 1975 as one of the initial twelve federal government-owned universities in Nigeria. Now an established research university, UDUS has 10 faculties—including Health Sciences and Pharmaceutical Science—and a postgraduate school to provide master’s and doctoral training in the sciences and other disciplines. UDUS’ mission is “to provide quality teaching, research and community service to deserving persons and communities, under the most peaceful atmosphere and in line with the national policy on education, irrespective of social class, gender, race, nationality and religion; and to ensure that at all times it serves a center for pursuit of research and academic excellence.”
