Researchers at the University of Buea focus on diseases of importance to Cameroonians and other West Africans, including malaria, HIV, onchocerciasis, and tuberculosis. Its Molecular and Cell Biology Laboratory in particular is dedicated to developing new tools for the control of neglected tropical diseases, with an emphasis on onchocerciasis. Additionally, the lab provides capacity building and training as well as diagnostic and consultancy services to the community.
