Researchers at AAU’s Aklilu Lemma Institute of Pathobiology undertake a variety of research activities relevant to WIPO Re:Search including on malaria control and prevention methods, schistosomiasis epidemiology, tuberculosis vaccine discovery and drug resistance profiles, and medicinal plant drug discovery. In addition, faculty from AAU’s College of Health Sciences recently established CDT-Africa, an African Center of Excellence supported by the World Bank. The Center aims to create an Africa-based world class center for innovation and discovery through collaborative research, and accommodates ten innovation units focused on neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), tuberculosis, and antimicrobial resistance.
